Max's started out serving American inspired street food from our trailers around the Murray. After building a loyal local following, we opened two café and restaurant venues in Yarrawonga and Cobram. You can still find the trailers out and about, bringing Max's food to functions and events across the region.

Start with a barista made coffee, keep it going with fresh juice, smoothies or a cold brew, then settle in with a beer, wine or cocktail from our licensed bar. Whether you're in for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon by the water, we've got you sorted.

Before the cafés and restaurants, there were the Max's American street food trailers. They built a following on the road around the Murray and they're still a big part of the Max's story today.

Max's is proudly owned by Dan and Jade. Taking from their years experience in hospitality and from Dan having nearly 3 decades of chefs trade under his belt. Dan and Jade took their love and plenty of learning of street food (specifically American BBQ) and brought the town of Yarrawonga something that was needed. Starting with a little BBQ trailer and a small smoker in their home driveway, Dan and Jade were able to provide the locals with hand made American style food. Popularity of the food escalated quite quickly, giving the pair the opportunity to attend festivals and cater for all sorts. Max's soon grew into a mobile catering trailer, able to produce more/different and exciting new food types. Operating as a mobile shop front in different areas of the Murray region, Dan and Jade were able to once again upgrade into a Cafe style shop right on the lake front, where they continued to serve their style of cooking whilst introducing Drinks/Coffees/Desserts and cakes, now being able to cover all bases. A couple of years on and once again popularity expanded along the border. This opened the opportunity for Max's to now operate in a Beach front Cafe/Restaurant in Cobram.
Many people ask why the name Max's, when the owners are not even close to this name. The story that follows is also told to those many people.
Well before Jade and Dan met, a scrappy little 18 month old Kelpie dog was rescued from a rotten life by Dan himself. Maxine was already named when Dan met her. As if the 2 were supposed to be together, Maxine inserted herself into Dan's life pretty quickly never really leaving his side. Thinking that she was a human being, Maxine would always able to make the glummest of people smile and laugh with her sometimes outrageous actions. Dan quickly giving her the nickname Mad Max. Max for short. She showed people that knew Dan that he was hers and she was the BOSS. Alot of stories can be told of Max. The story here unfolds after Max and Dan met Jade and grew their little family with 2 beautiful little girls, Max now showed people that it was not just Dan that was hers, she now owned 3 more humans. Establishing she was still the BOSS.
In her older years Max was not only the Matriarch of the household, but she lived a quieter lifestyle not really making much noise or getting around as much. The time had come when Jade and Dan needed to name the business. Throwing out idea after idea and name after name, nothing was gelling between the pair. Sitting in the lounge with their 2 girls and Max laying at Dan's feet, names and ideas were once being thrown around. Out of no prompt what so ever, Max curled over looked at Dan and Jade and let out the deepest bark Dan and Jade certainly ever heard her release. This was the Boss telling us what the name will be. MAX'S.
In December of 2023 after a long, full and wholesome life, Max unfortunately passed at the age of 17. However her legacy will live on through the Max's Group and will be spoken about for years to come.
